1) What Christmas episode/special/or movie always puts you in the holiday spirit?

For the music - Any of the Andy Williams’ Christmas shows.
For the childhood memories and sentiment - A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s really not Christmas until I see this.
For the goofy and hilarious  - My mom and I always watch the SCTV Christmas Special with Lola Heatherton (Catherine O’Hara) and the Juul Haalmeyer dancers.

2) What Christmas program or scene brings you to tears?

Good luck finding me not crying at Christmas, but I’m going to go with a personal one. It’s an episode from Designing Women called “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”  When Dixie Carter (Julia) is at the piano and singing that very song, I cry every time. If it’s possible for me to miss my grandmother more than I already do, this episode does it. I remember watching it with her the first time it aired. Also, Dixie/Julia reminds me a little of her- a beautiful, sassy belle.

3) What's your favorite quote of dialogue, song lyric, or sentiment from a Christmas program?

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” –Buddy the Elf

4) Is there a Christmas program that unintentionally frightens you--or turns you off?

On The Doris Day Show’s final season, there’s this bizarre episode where Santa is caught with a gun standing over a dead body. It doesn’t frighten me, but it definitely turns me off. Seasons two and three have these homey Christmas scenes with her family, friends and Christmas carols and then they give us this. I’m not opposed to quirky things at the holidays, but this is short on Christmas and long on annoying. It’s not even funny; it’s just weird. Also, nothing says Christmas quite like Doris and her boss yelling at each other for a full episode. Make it stop!

5) Name one character from Christmas entertainment with whom you closely identify? and explain why.

Some people would say I’m a little bit Snoopy (Christmas crazy) and a little Cindy-Lou Who (gullible), but I’ll go with Betty Haynes (Rosemary Clooney) in White Christmas because I’m a hopeless romantic who loves to sing. Also, I want to wear that gorgeous black dress she wears when she performs at the Carousel. And… I’m constantly dreaming of a white Christmas.
